If you have ever been to a jam night or open mike, there is always someone who plays one of these. I use the chords D and E (mostly majors).

hehehe.. kinda reminds me of something i did for a friend once.. she was complaining she'd never be able to play, so i made up an improv country song playing an open E string, E chord, open A string, A chord. lather, rinse, repeat.
unfortunately, she thought it was impressive, and never did learn to play. =P
